Q: Do you have a safety policy?
A: We do. We are committed to creating a social environment where all who attend feel welcome and able to express and celebrate their individual personhood. We have a zero tolerance policy for racism or any harassment or aggression against marginalized people and any behavior deemed sexual harassment.
We will support anyone who calls out these behaviors, refuses dances or otherwise refuses to accommodate these behaviors. We welcome feedback on how we can continue to improve and make our event more responsive.

Q: What is the easiest way to get to the hotel from the airport?
A: We have provided several transportation options to and from the hotel on our website here.

Q: What happens if I have already paid for the event but can’t attend?
A: Unfortunately, we are not able to offer refunds on weekend passes, competitions, buffets, or day/evening passes. However, passes are transferable.
If you are ill and suspect it is contagious, we ask you to stay home so you do not expose others to the infection. Please reach out to us at info@teapartyswings.com and we will assist you with this process.

Q: Where can I find a schedule of events?
A: The general event schedule is available starting in January:

Q: Will the instructors be available for private lessons?
A: Most instructors are available for private lessons during the weekend. To schedule a private lesson you may contact the instructor prior to the event or at the event itself. Most of the instructor’s websites are provided underneath their bios on the staff pages.

Q: What is a J & J Competition?
A: J & J competitions were created by the late Jack Carey to showcase a competitor’s skills in spontaneous swing dancing and their ability to dance well with a variety of partners. Competitors enter individually and are randomly assigned to several partners. This is a fun, low-pressure contest that is an excellent introduction to swing dance competitions. Q: Do I need a partner for the workshops?
A: The workshops do not require a partner and instructors will rotate partners frequently throughout the classes. It is a great way to meet now people!

Q: What if I’m a new dancer?
A: The Boston Tea Party is a beginner-friendly dance weekend. In addition to plenty of social dancing for all levels, we offer two dedicated beginner workshop tracks and a welcome program just for new attendees. In the Beginner Track, the focus is on learning the fundamentals of West Coast Swing or Lindy Hop in a relaxed environment from some of the best instructors in the country. We will also be offering a Newcomer Social so you can meet other new dancers, meet more experienced dancers, ask questions and find out all that we are offering and doing to help you feel valued and welcome!

Q: Can you help me find a roommate?
A: If you’re looking for a roommate, check out The Boston Tea Party group page on Facebook. The main purpose of this page is to assist attendees to find roommates, rides and contest partners.

Q: Is general dancing available during the competitions?
A: General dancing will be available during almost all competitions. We have two dedicated ballrooms (One Lindy and one WCS) that are open during the contests for those who prefer to enjoy some social dancing!

Q: Can I purchase a pass for one day only?
A: Day and evening passes are available and allow you to participate in all workshops and attend all activities (including the evening dance) on the day of your choice.
